Years after a devastating divorce and deep depression shattered his ministry dreams, he heard the Holy Spirit whisper, “Your experience has prepared you for this time and role.”

While working full-time, caring for her wheelchair-bound daughter, and earning her own degree, Sibyl finally surrendered to the calling she had resisted for years: becoming a chaplain to comfort the hurting and broken.

After drugs, arrests, and a stay in a mental hospital nearly destroyed his life, Randall Johnson cried out to Jesus one rainy night at a rescue mission and experienced the life-changing freedom of being born again. More than 40 years later, he is still passionately pursuing God’s call through Christian Leaders Institute as he studies for ordination and chaplaincy while working full-time at a boatyard.

At just 22 years old, Sally Countess spiraled from drugs, shoplifting, and assault into darkness so deep she nearly took her own life—until she was arrested for aggravated robbery and encountered God in a jail cell. Now walking in Christ’s redemption and restoration, she is pursuing ministry training through Christian Leaders Institute to help others escape addiction, abuse, and hopelessness just like she once needed to.

“They Told Her She Would Never Become a Pastor”

Malawi, South Africa

After surviving abuse, rejection, and extreme financial hardship in Malawi, Sithembile Kumwenda refused to let go of the calling God placed on her life—even when people mocked her and said she would never succeed in ministry. Today, after completing 88 credit hours and 15 ministry awards through Christian Leaders Institute while raising three sons and enduring persecution for her faith, she is boldly leading people to Christ across Africa and says CLI “took away fear and made me a strong woman.”
